Voters Day to be celebrated at booths, district and state level on January 25

Bhopal. National Voters Day will be celebrated on January 25 next in Madhya Pradesh. Functions marking the occasion will be held at polling booths, district and state level. Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Saleena Singh reviewed preparations regarding Voters Day at a meeting here today. Bhopal Divisional Commissioner Shri B.P. Singh and officers of district administration and Municipal Corporation were present on the occasion.

Smt. Saleena Singh informed that state level function of National Voters Day will be held at Government Subhash Higher Secondary School of Excellence at Shivaji Nagar. An exhibition on progress of elections and voters awareness theme would also be organized on the occasion. Election Commission of India has prescribed ‘Participants of Qualitative Inclusive Elections’. In the exhibition, history of elections in the context of India will be displayed. At the functions, new voters completing 18 years of age will be given voter ID cards and badges. The badges will carry logo of Election Commission and an inscription that ‘We are proud of being voter, We are ready to vote’. She informed that a meeting will be held on December 23 at 12.30 pm at Nirwachan Sadan to inform people of importance and usefulness of Voters Day.

Smt. Singh informed that this year also various competitions will be held at schools and colleges. Subject of the competition will be in accordance with the theme. All collectors will organize competitions in their districts and send selection lists to Higher & School Education and Women & Child Development departments. Winners of the competitions will be felicitated at state level function of National Voters Day. Winners of district and tahasil level will be given awards at local level. The competitions will mainly include essay, debate, slogan and painting competitions.

She informed that district collectors & district election officers, CEOs of Zila Panchayats, Deputy District Election Officers, District SVEEP Nodal Officers, Election Observers, BLOs, Anganwadi workers and SVEEP partner departments will be awarded for excellence in election-related works. Awards will also be given to best performers in e-roll, village, campus ambassadors etc. Functions will be held in collaboration with panchayat and educational institutions, NSS, NCC, Scout and Guide, Nehru Yuva Kendras etc. All district collectors have been directed to hold functions with dignity.
