Bhopal’s BRTS may be removed by March, CM will visit on January 8, Monday

Bhopal’s BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) may be removed before March. A total of Rs 18.51 crore will be spent on demolishing the BRTS between Misrod to Empree, Roshanpura to Kamla Park and Collectorate to Lalghati, whereas with the construction of an elevated corridor in Bairagarh (Sant Hirdaram Nagar), the PWD itself will get it demolished. Four plans have been presented to Chief Secretary Veera Rana, while the presentation can also be shown to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on January 8.

The plan has been ‘OK’ in the CS meeting. However, there will be another brainstorming session before the CS. After this, the presentation of the plan will be shown to the Chief Minister in the review meeting of Bhopal-Narmadapuram on January 8. As soon as CM Dr. Yadav’s approval is received, the exercise to demolish BRTS will begin. So that, the corridor will be removed by March. After this, code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections may be imposed.

The length of the BRTS corridor built on Hoshangabad is 6.7 kilometers. Despite adequate right of way and land being available, there are only 2 lanes for vehicles. By removing BRTS, a six-lane road of 3-3 lanes can be constructed. This will cost Rs 11.67 crore.

Its length is 1.42 kilometers, which is being located in a busy area of the city and is becoming a hindrance for traffic. Removing the dedicated corridor in this length and making a 3-lane road with a central verge for mixed vehicles may cost around Rs 3.21 crore.

It is 1.73 kilometers long. By removing this, there will be a 3-lane road on both sides. This may cost a total of Rs 3.63 crore.

This corridor of total length 3.81 will also be removed. With this, traffic in Bairagarh can improve to a great extent. An elevated corridor is proposed in Bairagarh at a cost of Rs 306 crore. Its tenders have also been done. This project also includes removal of BRTS. Due to this, the district administration or municipal corporation will not have to incur any additional expense. This matter was put before the Chief Secretary in the meeting. Only PWD will get the corridor removed. The pillars of the elevated corridor will stand at the same place where there is a corridor.

During the recent meeting held in the Ministry, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had decided to remove the BRTS corridor. The Chief Minister had asked for a detailed plan from the CS as to how the corridor would be removed. After this deadline ended, the CS also held a meeting of local officers on 30 December. After this the plan will be placed before the Chief Minister. Minister Vishwas Sarang, Krishna Gaur, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, Bhagwandas Sabnani will also watch the presentation.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, after holding a meeting with public representatives and officers, had given instructions to remove the BRTS corridor.

48 bus stops will be removed

The total length of the BRTS corridor from Sant Hirdaram Nagar (Bairagarh) to Misrod is about 24 kilometers. Out of this, 4 km dedicated lane has already been removed. In such a situation, an effort will be made to remove the 20 km corridor. With this, more than 48 bus stops will also be removed. City buses will not stop. They will run on both lanes. A total of Rs 357 crore was spent on the BRTS corridor.

Only city buses pass through the corridor. Other vehicles could not pass. Due to this, a situation of vehicle jam is being created on both sides. If mini buses or other vehicles were connected then the situation of jam would not have arisen.

Due to these reasons the corridor has also been removed from Delhi. By removing the corridor, one lane will be available on both sides. This will improve traffic movement, but after removing it, a system will have to be created for buses also, so that facilities will have to be provided to use public transport.

Attention will also have to be paid to road safety. Bus stops will also have to be made, so that along with stopping the buses, arrangements can be made for the disabled and senior citizens. After removing it, a better non-BRTS system will have to be provided.
