Counting to be held at over 3 thousand tables in 321 halls

Bhopal: Halls/venues selected for counting of votes for 29 Parliamentary constituencies in the state on May 16 at 51 district headquarters are being prepared for the purpose. Tight security arrangements are being made around all counting venues and strong rooms.

Counting will be held in 321 halls. Arrangement of adequate number of tables has been made for counting of votes polled in Vidhan Sabha constituencies in every district. As many as 14 counting tables each will be placed in big halls and 7 each in small ones.

Counting for 141 Vidhan Sabha constituencies will be held in one hall each. The number of Vidhan Sabha constituencies for which counting will be held in 2 halls is 84 where 7 tables each will be placed. Counting for 5 Vidhan Sabha seats will be held in 3 halls each where 7 tables each will be placed.

Thus, total 3 thousand 255 tables will be placed for EVM vote counting. At all returning officer headquarters 56 tables will be placed for counting of postal ballots.

It is noteworthy that among EVMs, 67 thousand 152 ballot units and 55 thousand 260 control units were used in the Lok Sabha elections. Total 2 crore 96 lakh votes were cast in EVMs while the number of postal ballots is 30 thousand.
