With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) all set to elect its second consecutive woman Mayor on Monday, SP has announced that it will not take part in voting, while Raj Thackeray’s MNS is likely to abstain from the Mayoral elections.

“The six corporators of MNS would not be participating in the voting tomorrow (Tuesday) for the mayor’s post,” reports said quoting MNS sources.

According to report, the party is expected to declare its official decision today.

In the meantime, SP MLA Abu Asim Azmi said “we cannot go with Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and Congress has betrayed us, so we would prefer abstaining the polls”.

In the 228-member House, Shiv Sena has 81 corporators, BJP 29, Akhil Bharatiya Sena two and three Independents. Congress has 77, Nationalist Congress Party 14, Samajwadi Party seven, and RPI three.
