Customs Act charge on Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

NEW DELHI: For carrying undeclared foreign currency, Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his manager Maroof has been charged under Customs Act.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) will now confiscate the currency and quasi-judicial authority headed by a Customs officer will be handling the issue. The charges will be adjudicated what are the penalty and the quantum. After paying penalty, Rahat and Mahroof can leave.

On Friday they have been questioned for 11 hours in New Delhi. Rahat, along with his manager and owner of an event management company Chitresh Shrivastava the brother of renowned music director Aadesh Shrivastava has faced several rounds of questioning by the DRI officials.

After the questioning on Friday, the DRI officials had also conducted a raid at Mumbai-based ‘Cosmos Bon Voyage and Forex Private Limited’ at suburban Lokhandwala Complex.
