Barack Obama Criticises Donald Trump, Says Democracy Not A TV Show

Washington: Launching a scathing attack on Donald Trump, US President Barack Obama has declared the Republican presidential candidate unfit for the White House, saying democracy is not a spectator sport and election is not a reality TV show.
Making a strong case for his former secretary of state and Democratic party’s presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, 68, a combative Obama said the interest of the nation would be best served in Clinton replacing him at the White House and not the former reality TV star, Trump, 70.

“You need to remember, if you are serious about our democracy then you have got to be with her. She is in the arena and you cannot leave her in there by herself, you have
got to get in there with her. You cannot stay home because, you know, she has been around for a long time. “Well you know what, this is not reality TV. Democracy is not a spectator sport. You do not tweet in your vote,” Obama said at an election rally in Philadelphia.

“America is not about yes he will, it is about yes we can, yes we can, yes we can create more good jobs. Yes we can create better schools. Yes we can create safer streets. Yes we can create a more secure world.

“We can bring about real change and real progress and the time has come for me to pass the baton on, but I know that Hillary is going to take it and she is going to run that race
and she will finish that race and that is why I am with her, that is why I am fired up, that is why I am ready to go. And I need you to join me,” he said.

Clinton could not attend the rally because of advice from doctors to rest for a few days as she has been detected with pneumonia. Trump was booed by the audience when Obama took the name of the real estate mogul who is aiming to replace him at the White House next January.

“Do not boo. Vote. Booing is easy. I need you to vote. Look, let us talk about Mr Trump. He is not really a plans guy, a fact guy. He calls himself a business guy, but America has got a lot of businessmen and women who succeeded without hiding their tax returns or leaving a trail of lawsuits, workers who did not get paid, people feeling like they got cheated.

“I keep on reading this analysis that, well, you know, Trump has got support from like working folks. Really? This is the guy you want to be championing working people? This guy who spent 70 years on this earth showing no concern for working people – this guy has suddenly going to be your champion?,” Obama asked.
