ECI launches mega campaign to increase polling percentage

Bhopal: On the initiative of Election Commission of India, camps were held for the first time at polling booths in the country to include new voters’ names in electoral rolls. Large number of youths turned up at 53 thousand 946 polling booths in Madhya Pradesh to get their names included by filling up Form-6. They were helped in filling up the forms by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) present at polling booths. Deputy Election Commissioner of India Shri Vinod Zutshi inspected camps at polling booths set up at Central School No-3 at Misrod Road, Government Higher Secondary School and Sagar Public School. He was accompanied by Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri S.S. Bansal and District Collector Shri Nishant Warwade.

First Shri Vinod Zutshi visited polling booths number 271, 272 and 273 in number-154 Govindpura Vidhan Sabha constituency which is a part of 19-Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency. All these 3 polling booths are situated at Central School (KV-3). Shri Zutshi sought information from BLOs Shri R.S. Mehra, Shri Vijay Kumar and Smt. Abha Biskiya about process to include names and gave necessary directives. He held discussions with youths who had turned up in large number at these polling booths. He inspected copies of electoral rolls pasted on the walls of polling booths and enquired youths about status of their names in the electoral rolls. The Deputy Election Commissioner directed that EPIC cards should be provided at the earliest to the youths submitting Form-6 here. He informed voters that they can get their names included in electoral rolls till March 12 in the constituencies where Lok Sabha elections are to be held on April 10, March 16 where elections are to be held on Aril 17 and March 26 in the constituencies where Lok Sabha elections are to be held on April 24.

Later, Shri Zutshi and Shri Govind visited polling booths number 284, 285, 286 and 287 situated at Higher Secondary School, Misrod and interacted with voters. Giving his introduction to voters he said, “I have come from Election Commission of India……How can I help you?”. On this, voters narrated their purpose of visiting the polling booth and praised holding of the camp. On asked by Shri Zutshi as to how they got information about the camp, the youths replied that they got it from media. He enquired youths about problems being experienced in getting their names included and gave necessary directives to officers.

Following this, Shri Zutshi visited polling booth numbers 249, 250, 251, 252e, 253 and 254 at Sagar Public School and held detailed discussions with voters. He distributed previously prepared EPIC cards to them. After inspecting polling booths, Shri Zutshi left for New Delhi. After this, Shri Jaideep Govind and Shri Nishant Warwade visited polling booth numbers 207, 208 and 209 situated at Ratanpur Sadak Government Middle School under 155-Huzur Vidhan Sabha constituency, took stock of arrangements and held discussions with voters.
