CM for emergency plan in view of deficient rainfall

Bhopal. In view of deficient rainfall, the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to draw out an emergency plan to deal with the challenging situation. Addressing a meeting of Agriculture Cabinet at Mantralaya here today, he asked the authorities to immediately launch an action plan for saving the crops from drought and diseases.

Shri Chouhan asked the officers and experts to consider the weather forecasts before finalizing plans. He said that all possible alternative measures should be taken and farmers should be given all possible relief. He asked the Revenue Department’s officials to immediately start survey of crops damaged by diseases or pests.  Shri Chouhan directed the officers of Water Resources and Energy Departments to ensure sufficient power and water supply so that Kharif crops are saved. He said that the areas situated away from dams have reported unprecedented increase in power requirement. This situation should be kept in view while designing actions plans; he added saying that he would review the situation by end of next week.

Shri Chouhan stressed the need for keeping the farming community well informed about the use of seeds and intercropping.

Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Gopal Bhargava, Minister for Agriculture Shri Gauri Shankar Bisen, Minister for Revenue Shri Rampal Singh, Finance Minster Shri Jayant Malaiya, Minstier for Public Health Engineering Sushri Kusum Mehdele, Minister for Tribal Welfare Shri Gyan Singh, Minister of State for Urban Administration Shri Lal Singh Arya and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony De Sa attended the meeting. It was informed that during kharif 2015 rainfall has been deficient as 23 districts have recorded average rainfall while 19 have less than average rainfall.
