Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor speak about the Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar controversy

After Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna and many more stars spoke about Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar scandal, Sui Dhaaga actor Varun Dhawan and Namaste England lead Arjun Kapoor addressed the issue and shared their thoughts on the same. During the promotions of Sui Dhaaga, Varun urged everyone to listen to Tanushree first. Varun confessed he hasn’t gotten into the nuances of the situation to share a concrete opinion about the incident, but he says that he applauds the actress’ courage to come out and speak against the sexual crime that took place.

Varun told reporters, “I’ve been very busy with Sui Dhaaga, toh maine sab kuch suna nahi hai, jo bhi kaha hai. But I’ll just say this ke respect ek bohot hi important cheez hoti hai workplace mein. Ek aurat ke liye, ek mard ke liye aur ek bacche ke liye. Aur hume apni industry safe karna hai (I’ll just say that respect is very important at any workplace. It is important to respect a woman, a man and children. We have to make our industry safe.)”

He added, “We have to make it safe for women, men and children. Har insaan ko respect dena chahiye and I don’t know too much about that issue toh main khulke nahi kehna chahunga uske baare mein. Cover toh ho raha hai har jagah. (I don’t know much about the issue, so I won’t speak much about it. It is being covered everywhere). I’ll just speak about the respect factor. Agar koi insaan iske baare mein bol raha hai khulke, I think we should hear that person out. (If a person is openly talking about it, I think we should hear that person out). It takes great courage to talk like that and I applaud that courage.”

On the other hand, Arjun spoke to India Today and said, “If what Tanushree is saying is true then we as an industry would want that nobody experiences this again. We have to create an environment of equality. It’s important that women should feel safe in a working environment.”

The actor added, “It’s sad that this issue has come to light after ten years. As someone from the industry, I would want that no girl should feel this as we want the industry to be the safest place in the world. It’s disappointing that such a thing has happened with Tanushree. If the allegations are true, we need to introspect.”
