Madhya Pradesh polls: BJP releases first list of 177 candidates, Shivraj Singh Chouhan to contest from Budhni

Bhopal: The BJP has released the first list of 177 candidates for Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. These names were decided in the meeting of the election committee held in Delhi. Apart from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s national president Amit Shah were present in the election committee meeting.

According to the list, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan will contest from Budhni, state ministers Narottam Mishra and Yashodhara Raje Scindia will contest from Datia and Shivpuri respectively. Voting for MP legislative assembly polls will be held on 28 November to elect members of the 230 constituencies and results will be declared on 11 December.

Winning MP back is going to be a tough task for the saffron party and Shivraj Singh Chouhan who is eyeing for a consecutive 4th term.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh, candidates list for Telangana and Mizoram Assembly polls were announced following a marathon meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee late on Thursday.

The party has denied tickets to sitting MLA and Minister in the state government Maya Singh.

There are 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh, where the saffron party has been in power for three consecutive terms while in Telangana (119) the ruling TRS is seeking a second term. In Mizoram (40) Congress is the ruling party.

The process of filing nominations for assembly polls starts from today and would conclude on November 9. According to media inputs, all the major political parties decided to reveal the names at the last moment to avoid infighting between candidates
