Wildlife Week 6th day: Bird watching camp and creative workshop held

Bhopal: A bird watching camp was held on the 6th day of Wildlife Week at Van Vihar National Park from 6 am today. As many as 119 participants from various institutions participated in the camp. Bird specialists Dr. Surendra Tiwari, Sushri Somi Gupta, Shri Prahlad Kumar Pandey and Shri Prabhat apprised the participants about birds’ food and specialities. Van Vihar is the hotspot for bird lovers. Migratory birds have started arriving here. Bird lovers identified 50 other birds including Black Red Start and Pied Crested Cuckoo migrated from 300 kilometers. Besides, they also saw Fan Tail Fly Catcher, Doodhraj, Chatak, Papeeha, Night Heron, Red Vented, Nightingale, Dhanesh, Red Muniya Robin, Pied Kingfisher, Indian Roller, Green Bee Eater and Born Swallow.

As many as 50 children participated in creative workshop held for school students. Kirti Metekar of D.R. Convent stood first, Ruchi Tiwari of Carmel Convent second and Muskan stood third. Shri Vinay Sapre of Jawaharlal Nehru Bal Bhavan taught children to make shapes of flora and fauna through coloured paper.
Semi-final and final of quiz competition were also held today. During the week, fancy dress competition of school students will be held on October 7 at 9.30 am and open forum from 11 am.
Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa will be the chief guest at concluding function of the Wildlife Week at Van Vihar National Park on October 7 at 11.30 am. At the function, prizes will be given away to officers and employees having put in outstanding service in wildlife conservation. Winners of various other competitions during Wildlife Week will also be conferred prizes on the occasion.
