Vaccination shortfall hits Chhattisgarh

The vaccination campaign to contain Covid-19 has suffered in more than 20 districts of Chhattisgarh for 18-44 age group because of supply crunch.

State Immunisation officer Dr Amar Singh Thakur told The Pioneer that in the first week of June, around 6 lakh vaccines are expected to arrive for the State. Of this, 5 lakh doses are of Covishield and 1.02 lakh doses of Covaxin.

Chhattisgarh has placed an order for 1.5 crore doses.

Dr Thakur said the vaccination process in the 45-plus age category has remained unaffected as the State Government has enough stock for the time being.

He hoped that with the arrival of vaccine doses in June, the vaccination process for the 18-44 age category will resume soon.
