Fuel prices slashed on Thursday, petrol cheapest in 8 months: Check today’s rates here

New Delhi: Petrol, diesel prices were slashed on Thursday. Petrol in the national capital became cheapest in last eight months while diesel is cheapest in last three months. Today, petrol prices fell by 33-35 paise per litre while diesel prices went down by 36-38 paise.

After today’s price cut, non-branded petrol in national capital Delhi was priced at Rs 73.24 as against Rs 73.57 on Wednesday and diesel was retailing at Rs 68.13 compared to Rs 68.49 yesterday, according to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website.

In Mumbai, petrol price went below Rs 79. It was sold at Rs 78.80 per litre today compared to Rs 79.12 on Wednesday. Diesel in Mumbai became cheaper by 38 paise to Rs 71.33 per litre.

In Chennai, petrol was retailing at Rs 76.01 per litre as against Rs 76.35 on Wednesday. In Kolkata petrol was sold at Rs 75.24 as against Rs 75.57 per litre yesterday. Diesel in Chennai was sold at Rs 71.95. Diesel price in Kolkata fell below Rs 70 after today’s price cut. It was retailing at Rs 69.98. In Noida, petrol was priced at Rs 72.47 today and diesel was sold at Rs 66.94 compared to Rs 67.25 yesterday.

In the month of November so far, petrol prices have come down by nearly Rs 6.40 per litre while diesel has become cheaper by nearly Rs 6 across major cities of the country. The recent cut in fuel prices has given a big relief to consumers.

Petrol, diesel price in India are fixed, based on the last 15-day average price of crude and rupee-dollar exchange rate along with dealer commission, and taxes, which does not change on a daily basis. It may be noted that the rupee has also appreciated by over 3 per cent against the US dollar this month.

Brent crude oil futures hit their lowest since December 2017 at $59.04 per barrel last week. On Thursday, it was trading near $59.47 per barrel mark.
