Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea passes away: Parag Desai fell on the road while trying to escape from street dogs, died of brain hemorrhage

Parag Desai, executive director of Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited, died on Sunday evening at the age of 49 in a private hospital in Ahmedabad. He had fallen on the road while trying to escape from street dogs. After this he suffered brain hemorrhage. Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited is popular for its tea brand Wagh Bakri Tea.

According to the report of Ahmedabad Mirror, the incident took place on October 15 when Desai had gone for a morning walk near ISKCON Ambli Road. After falling on the road, a security guard informed the family about the incident and Desai was taken to nearby Shelby Hospital for treatment. After this he was shifted to Zydus Hospital.

Parag Desai was on ventilator for seven days.
According to sources close to the family, Parag Desai underwent surgery immediately after brain hemorrhage. He remained on ventilator for the next seven days, but due to many health complications, Desai’s life could not be saved. His last rites were performed at Thaltej crematorium in Ahmedabad at 9 am on Monday, Ahmedabad Mirror reported.

The expert tea taster and evaluator was Desai
Parag Desai, son of Rashesh Desai, MD of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. He did his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Long Island University. Desai headed the sales, marketing and export departments of the group. He was also an expert tea taster and valuer. He also led the group’s transformation into tea lounges as well as e-commerce.

Parag Desai joined Wagh Bakri in 1995.
Parag Desai was a member of the fourth generation of the family business. This group was founded by Narandas Desai in 1892. He joined Wagh Bakri in 1995. He is survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha. According to the company’s website, the turnover of Wagh Bakri is around Rs 2,000 crore. It has a tea distribution of more than 5 crore kilograms.
