Mulayam Attacks BSP, UPA
Protesting against Mayawati government in UP, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has announced a state-wide ‘jail bharo’ agitation and asked the central government to “mend” its policies. However, he maintained silence on withdrawing support from the Congress-led UPA.
“The ‘jail bharo’ agitation will not be symbolic. You all will have to go to jail…I will court arrest in Lucknow,” Yadav said at the inaugural session of the party’s Special National Conference in Agra.
He said that the date for commencing agitation against the state government for highlighting its “all round failure” would be announced shortly.
Singh flayed the Congress-led UPA government at the centre on a number of issue such as rising prices, suicides by farmers and the foreign policy.
He said that the Prime Minister had assured people that prices of essential commodities will be brought down in the first 100 days of the new government.
