Broadband Connection to be available in every village of Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today sanctioned implementation of National Optical Fiber Network Project to make available reliable broadband connectivity of 100 ABPS at Gram Panchayat-level. October 31, 2012 has been set as the deadline for the project’s implementation.
The project will ensure effective implementation of various Gram Panchayats, rural development programmes, e-governance works and electronic delivery of public services. Through this network, all the service providers (Mobile operators, internet service providers, cable TV operators etc) will have impartial access. At the same time, videoconferencing and G to C services will also be available. Connectivity gap between development blocks and Gram Panchayats will come to an end. The cabinet endorsed a tri-partite MoU to be signed for the project by the State Government, the Telecommunication Department and Bharat Broadband Limited.
Project implementation units: The cabinet decided to increase the number of Public Works Department’s project implementation units from 15 to 21. Sanction has been granted to set up one PIU each in large districts including Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur and PIU having shown jurisdiction in the remaining districts. Sanction was been granted for new PIU set-up and creation of posts. The cabinet gave permission to get proofs of important buildings maps checked at government engineering colleges, IIT or experts registered user Madhya Pradesh Land Development Rules. Permission was also granted for utilisation of outsourcing for supervision and quality control.
The cabinet granted permission to increase upper limit of supervision charge for availing services of architects, getting DPRs prepared, appointment of quality control consultants and contingency etc. from six to maximum nine percent. The cabinet granted permission to implement pre-qualification on building construction works of over Rs. 50 lakh.
Police force: The cabinet endorsed the order given by the Chief Minister for creation of 4,124 posts with a view to increasing strength of the police force during year 2012-13. This order was given on July 10, 2012.
Junior supply officers:  The cabinet permitted to fill up all the 280 vacant posts of junior supply officer of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department with a view to making better facilities available to public distribution system consumers. These include 62 advertised and 218 remaining vacancies.
New tahsils: The cabinet endorsed the creation of 10 tahsils and sanctioned creation of two more new tahsils. The endorsed tahsils include Lidhora in Tikamgarh district, Birsa in Balaghat, Rampura in Neemuch, Chand in Chhindwara, Sarai and Madha in Singrauli, Sondwa and Kathhiwara in Alirajpur district and Budhar and Gohparoo in Shahdol district. Creation of posts of one tahsildar each, one naib tahsildar, five assistants grade-3 has also been sanctioned for these tahsils.
The cabinet sanctioned upgradation of Sanawad sub-tahsil office in Khargone district as a new tahsil. Sanction was also given to declare Bajag development block as a new tahsil in Dindori district. Creation of posts of one tahsildar each, one naib tahsildar, five assistants grade-3 has also been sanctioned for these tahsils.
Revised sanction: The cabinet accorded revised sanction for Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme’s works in Dhar, Dindori and Tikamgarh district. Earlier, costs of these schemes were Rs. 81.02 crore, Rs. 34.38 crore and Rs. Rs. 49.70 crore, respectively which has been revised to Rs. 94.77 crore, Rs. 39.92 crore and Rs. 55.98 crore. Under the schemes, electrification will be done in all the Majra, tolas and habitats of over 100 population at 3,165 electrified villages. This will pave way for giving electricity connections to one lakh 27 thousand 468 BPL families.
Other decisions: The cabinet decided to amend Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Fund Act-19. Its objective is to provide social security to maximum number of labourers through Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board.
