Contribute best for country’s integrity: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan unfurled National Flag on a 235 feet tall mast, one the tallest masts in the world, at Vallabh Bhai Patel Park near Mantralaya and took salute here today. He said that programme to salute the National Flag will be held here every Saturday. The place will serve as a source of inspiration for patriotism for visitors to Bhopal. The mast is 235 feet tall while size of the flag is 60X90 feet. It continue to sway round the clock.

Addressing the function, the Chief Minister urged people to contribute their best to country’s unity and integrity. Shri Chouhan said that this massive National Flag will further cement spirit of patriotism. He said that Shaurya Smarak will also be completed soon where memories of martyrs of the country will be preserved.

Shri Chouhan said that India is a great country. It has given great principles to the world. He said that universities like Nalanda and Taxila had been established in India at a time when several civilizations of the world were in their formative stage. He said that India will guide the world. He paid tributes to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary and remembered Sardar Patel. Paying tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country, he said that it is due to such gallant people that no one has been able do any harm to India.

The Chief Minister said that the National Flag had inspired revolutionaries who had driven the British administration away. Revolutionaries and brave jawans did not let the Tricolour stoop. Shri Chouhan said that India has is going from strength to strengh and will continue to rise further. He urged people to contribute their best to help India move ahead on the path of development.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa said that this effort has been made to enhance spirit of patriotism. He said that the National Flag will remind people about revolutionaries and their constitutional duties. Paying tributes to martyrs, he also remembered Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Earlier, the Chief Minister took salute of parade. The flag was unfurled amidst playing of tunes of patriotic songs by Police Band followed by colourful fireworks.

Finance Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh, Leader of Opposition Shri Satyadeo Katare, MP Shri Alok Sanjar, Mayor Shri Alok Sharma, MLA Shri Vishwas Sarang, DGP Shri Surendra Sinh, senior administrative officers and large number of people were present on the occasion.
