Pak Terrorists’ Escape: MHA Seeks Report, DP Hikes Reward to 50k

Taking a strong view of a lapse that resulted in the escape of three Pakistani nationals awaiting deportation to their country, the Home Ministry has sought reports from Delhi police and the FRRO, say media reports on Sunday.

According to the reports, the ministry has also asked for steps to ensure enhanced security arrangements at the detention facility and the transit custody of foreigners on the deportation list.

The three, identified as Abdul Razzak, Mohammed Sadiq and Rafaqat Ali – all in their 30s – were arrested, in connection with the 1999 blasts near the Red Fort, on October 28, 2000.

Having served their term in jail, the three were to be deported to Pakistan and were at a city hospital to undergo check up at the time of the escape, the three were being guarded by a Sub Inspector of the  Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), at the time of the incident.

A case of jumping restraint orders has been registered under the Foreigners Act at Kotwali police station.

Subsequent to the escape an alert was sounded in the national capital and neighbouring areas and a manhunt is underway to nab them.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to the trio.
