Chennai: A 10-year-old boy died after falling from the second floor of the upscale Express Avenue Mall in Chennai. The boy’s bag got stuck in an escalator belt inside the mall.
The incident took place on April 10 when the victim, Naveen Khanna, was in the mall with his relatives. Naveen’s bag got stuck in an escalator belt, was slammed to the ground and was grievously injured. The entire accident was caught on camera.
He was rushed to hospital by his family with the help of people in the mall but he succumbed on Friday.
The bereaved family is now holding Express Avenue Mall responsible for the mishap saying there were inadequate safety measures for children at the mall.
A case has been filed under section 304 (A) against the mall authorities.
