Widespread campaign to include voters’ names in electoral rolls on Sunday

Bhopal: On the directives of Election Commission of India, special camps will be held at all 53 thousand 946 polling booths in the state on Sunday March 9 to include names of eligible voters in electoral rolls. At the camps, Booth Level Officers will sit with electoral rolls from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. One copy of electoral rolls will be pasted on the wall of polling booth so that voters can check their names. Electoral rolls will also be read out at the camps for the convenience of illiterate persons. Deputy Election Commissioner of India Shri Vinod Zutshi will take stock of camps at some polling booths of the state capital on Sunday from 11 am.

On the commission’s directive, wide publicity of the camps is being undertaken. Public announcement through drumbeats are being made at local levels. Information about the special camps has also been given to recognised political parties. They have been asked also to urge political parties to make available their booth level agents (BLA) at the camps. Facility of filling up forms of willing voters will also be available at the camps. After filling up, the BLOs will undertake physical verification, local scrutiny etc and then submit the forms to ARO. ARO will dispose of forms after completing process in 11 days. Special initiative will be taken at the camp to include names of all remaining eligible voters.

EPIC card holders can also check their names in electoral rolls and fill up form-6 if their names are missing from electoral rolls. EPIC is only an identity document and a person cannot vote despite having it if his name is not included in electoral rolls. On the commission’s directive, information about all forms received at the camps will be posted Vidhan Sabha constituency-wise on CEO’s web portal. States will receive forms till March 11 and dispose of or reject them by March 20.

SMS facility

SMS facility has been provided to voters to help them know their status in electoral rolls. Voters can obtain such information by typing MP one space EPIC (without gap), then one space and then type the number given on the EPIC card and send the same to 51969. After this, the voter will get return SMS informing him about his polling booth and serial number in electoral roll. Besides, voters can also search their names on www.ceomadhyapradesh.nic.in.
