Insurance policy worth Rs. 2 lakh to all GMC students

Bhopal: A master plan for the expansion of the medical college as well as of Hamidia Hospital will be prepared. All students studying at the Gandhi Medical College (GMC) will soon be get insurance policies worth Rs 2 lakh.

Apart from this, a policy to regulate the visiting hours of the hospital will be formulated in order to upgrade the security.

Rs 1000 crore will be spent to implement these decisions. On Monday the decision regarding these policies was taken in the general body meeting of the hospital held.

The dean of the college Dr Nirbhay Shrivastava said, the decision to insure the students was taken after the death of two students in an accident in August last year.

Rs 24 crore was granted for the financial year 2011-12 in the meeting. The amount will be spent on buying medicines, equipments, ambulances, garbage disposal etc.

During the meeting the Minister of State for Medical Education Mahendra Hardia, Bhopal Commissioner Manoj Shrivastava, Member of Parliament Kailash Joshi, and other high officials were present.
