Bhopal — Ending a life-long association, Akbar, the oldest lion lodged at the Indore zoo in the state succumbed to age related complications that left him paralysed for the last few months of his life, he would have turned 22 on January 15.
Akbar had a pride of place at the zoo – his place of birth – as his presence attracted scores of visitors every week. He, however, was moved to a non-public area of the zoo since a liver condition left him paralysed.
After his death on Wednesday, an autopsy performed by practitioners from the Mhow Veterinary College revealed that Akbar had died of lung and kidney disorders.
He was laid to rest after floral tributes paid by students with whom the big cat was a bigger hit
