In the last 3-4 years, there have been many major incidents of dog bites in the capital, while every year approximately Rs 1 crore is spent on sterilization. Still, the number of dogs is increasing in the city. Currently there are more than 1.25 lakh street dogs. These dogs have become aggressive in cold. They also run after passers-by to bite them.

In the state capital, dogs are mostly preying on children. In August-22, a seven-year-old girl was scratched by a dog in Banshkhedi area. His eyes and mouth were badly injured. Three days before this, his elder sister was also bitten by a dog. The girl remained admitted in the hospital for about 15 days.

An incident has also taken place in Ashoka Garden near E-6 Vardhman Green Park. Here a 6 year old innocent girl who was playing outside the house was scratched by dogs.

In Bagh Sevaniya area too, a four year old girl was attacked by 5 stray dogs. The girl had deep wounds on her head, ears and hands. Along with the face, there were injuries on the stomach, waist and shoulders.
