CG Issues Environment Notices to 15 Steel Makers

Over a dozen steel makers in Chhattisgarh are under the scanner for literally throwing environmental cautions to the wind.

The state Environment Conservation Board (ECB) has put 15 steel units on notice, seeking an explanation for violations of the norms set by the board.

The violations were recently discovered when board officials conducted checks at several plants at industrial areas surrounding the state capital, Raipur.

Board officials say that in-case satisfactory explanations are not received from the units in question, it would recommend the state power company to disconnect power supply to the units.
