Matsya Utsav 2012 center of attraction these days in Bhopal

BHOPAL: In Matsya Utsav 2012 Fisheries Minister Ajay Vishnoi has said that fish breeding should not remain confined to earning livelihood just to make both the ends meet, but should also turned into a profitable occupation.

He was addressing a technical session on Sunday. The session was participated by scientists and office-bearers of fisheries institutions of various states.

Vishnoi said that information of latest fisheries techniques should be disseminated to fishermen also. Attention should be given to use of fish of new varieties for increasing fish production.

The State Government is chalking out a scheme put it into practice. He said that efforts should be made to ensure that living fish reach markets so that it can fetch higher price. The State Government will see to it that fish marketing is made in proper way. Fishermen’s Cooperative Development Societies should also develop their network like Milk Producers’ Cooperative Societies.

On Feb 4 there held a cooking competition for housewives at Matsya Utsav in which Renu Farooqi stood first, Sangeeta Saxena second and Jolly Chakravarti comes third.

In the Donga boat race at the Boat Club, Sarvashri Devilal and Hari stood first, Golu and Bharat second and Ajay and Rahul stood third.

On Sunday 110-feet glass fish gallery remained the centre of visitors’ attraction. There was heavy rush over there. People went round the exhibition and sought information recipes of fish dishes.

They also enjoyed fish and veg dishes in the food zone at Matsya Utsav.
