Rs. 11 crore cash, liquor and jewellery seized
Bhopal: Strict action is being taken to ensure free and fair 3-phase Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from police and Excise staff, flying squads, Income Tax teams and SST have intensified search operations to check misuse of black money and illicit distribution of liquor in districts. As per information sent by CEO Office to Election Commission, cash and kind worth Rs. 11 crore 43 lakh has been seized since announcement of elections in the state.
Out of seizure of Rs. one crore one lakh cash, SST has seized Rs. 31 lakh 70 thousand, police Rs. 27 lakh and Income Tax Department Rs. 42 lakh. Large quantity of bullion has also been seized by various teams. Police seized 479 kg silver bars costing Rs. 2 crore 80 lakh at Badnagar in Ujjain. Flying squads 108.7 litre liquor worth Rs. 22 thousand, SST 307.9 litre liquor worth Rs. 55 thousand, police one lakh 29 thousand 922 litre liquor worth Rs. 4 crore 19 lakh 29 thousand Excise Department seized 41 thousand 77 litre liquor worth Rs. 64 lakh 85 thousand. In this way, total on lakh 71 thousand litre liquor worth Rs. 4 crore 85 lakh has been seized.
Police has seized 756.171 kg drugs/narcotics worth Rs. 2 crore 40 lakh. Flying squads have seized various kinds of goods worth Rs. 15 lakh 87 thousand and SST Rs. 21 lakh 51 thousand. Thus, Rs. one crore one thousand cash, Rs. 2 crore 80 lakh worth bullion, Rs. 4 crore 85 lakh worth one lakh 71 thousand litre liquor, Rs. 2 crore 40 lakh worth drugs/narcotics and Rs. 37 worth other material have been seized.
