Complete necessary preparations for Rabi procurement : CM Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that all necessary preparations should be completed for Rabi procurement in Madhya Pradesh.

It should be ensured that farmers do not face any kind of trouble, the Chief Minister gave instructions after seeking information about the preparations made for rabi procurement in the state in a meeting held at Samatva Bhavan located at Chief Minister’s residence.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Bisahu Lal Singh, Cooperatives Minister Dr. Arvind Bhadauria and concerned senior officials were present.

It was told that about 15 lakh farmers have got registered for procurement this year in the state.

Compared to last year’s registration, three fourth registrations have been done.

There is a possibility of registration of about 20 lakhs. Necessary preparations are being made for storage and transportation of food grains.

Wheat procurement will start in the state from March 25.

Division wise dates have been decided. The procurement will start from March 25 in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Narmadapuram divisions.

The procurement will start from April 1 in Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, Sagar, Gwalior and Chambal divisions. Four thousand 223 procurement centers will work in the state.

The arrangements have been made according to the estimated requirement of about 3 lakh bales in gunny bags.

It is possible to procure about 70 lakh metric tonnes from the presently available gunny bags. Food Corporation of India, acquired godowns, open cape, silo bags godowns of all government and semi-government agencies are available for storage.

Major instructions of Chief Minister Chouhan

  • Keep good storage capacity.
  • The procurement centers should be sufficient.
  • There should be no shortage of gunny bags anywhere.
  • The amount should be paid to the farmer on time.
  • Necessary transport arrangements should be made.
  • Technology in works related to procurement should be used.
  • The farmer should be given the facility to choose his own center for procurement.
  • Timely amount should be paid to the farmers at minimum support price.
