Agriculture Minister Shri Bisen demands special Central Package for Kharif

Bhopal: At the 85th meeting of ICAR regarding Agriculture Departments in New Delhi today, state’s Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen informed that over 50 percent soybean crops in the state suffered loss during year 2013 due to excessive rains. For Kharif sowing 2014, 20 lakh quintal seeds are needed of which only 6 lakh quintal is available. He demanded that the Central Government should sanction a special package for making seeds available. Minster Shri Bisen informed that the state government has made available 40 acre land for Ecarda Institute at Sehore. Madhya Pradesh government will make available land if the Central Government wishes to set up more institutes in the state.

Shri Bisen said that Madhya Pradesh is pioneer in organic farming. Demands for setting up of a number of related institutes is pending with the Centre. He demanded that all such pending demands should be met by the Central Government at the earliest.

Shri Bisen said that constant agriculture growth in Madhya Pradesh is the result of state government’s efforts. Madhya pradesh has been selected for Krishi Karma Award for consecutive second year. Agriculture growth rate in the state is in the double digit for last 3 years. Madhya Pradesh will give even better results if Central Governments extends cooperation, he added. Principal Secretary Farmer’s Welfare and Agriculture Development Dr. Rajesh Rajora was also present on the occasion.
