Sex-tainted Swami Smuggled Gold during Spiritual Visits: CID
In a recent revelation, the CID sleuths have said that sex-tainted Swami Nityananda routinely smuggled gold weighing many kilograms from the US, said media reports.
The Director of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Swami Nityananda quite often visited the US and during the visits, used to carry objects looking gold, reports said.
“He usually got things made in form of rosaries and sandals that he used to wear while returning to India,” a DRI letter that was sent to the Bangalore airport authorities, says.
Newspaper Mid Day claims to have a copy of the letter.
The letter further said that Swami misused his image of a spiritual guru to smuggle gold, said reports.
Officials claimed that Swami thought that he would never be trapped for custom officials never bothered to check him during his spiritual visits, reports said.
DRI officials had also issued a look out circular to all the airports soon after sex swami went into hiding.
The DRI sleuths suspect that Nityananda could have used the same technique for smuggling precious stones as well, said reports.
Besides, the officials suspect that Ma Nithyananda Gopika, sex swami’s personal assistant, helped him in the smuggling racket.
