Virat Kohli on the verge of breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record

NEW DELHI: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking another batting record ahead of the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against the West Indies.

Kohli needs just 187 runs in the 5 match ODI series to break the previous record and become the highest Indian ODI run-getter of all time against the West Indies. The record currently belongs to master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
The retired Indian batting maestro played 39 ODIs against the West Indies in his illustrious career, spanning more than two decades. Tendulkar is on top of the tally with 1573 runs at an average of 52.73, including 4 centuries and 11 half-centuries.

Kohli has so far played 27 ODIs against the West Indies, scoring 1387 runs at an average of 60.30. The current Indian skipper has 4 ODI centuries and nine half-centuries against the Caribbean team under his belt.
India batting legend Rahul Dravid is third on the list with 1348 runs in 40 matches at an average of 42.12, including three centuries and eight fifties.

With 1142 runs in 27 matches, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly is fourth on that list tally. Ganguly scored 11 ODI half-centuries against the West Indies at an average of 47.58.

Tendulkar, Kohli, Dravid and Ganguly are infact the four Indian batsmen who have scored 1000 plus runs against the West Indies in ODIs.
