Name Star Campaigners, MP CEO Tells Parties
Bhopal: In a move that could force political parties to lay bare their election strategy, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has asked all political outfits to submit a list of star campaigners who will hit the state’s campaign trails on their behalf.
According to reports attributing the information to ‘official sources,’ political parties both at the national and state-level are required to submit the lists with the Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officers within seven days of notification for the election.
As per EC guidelines, recognised political parties can have a maximum 40 star campaigners and for non-recognised parties the star presence is limited to 20.
The state goes to polls in two phases on April 23 and April 30.
