Wheat support price to be increased in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a number of gifts for farmers at a massive Kisan Mahapanchayat at sprawling Jamboree ground here today. Following are the major announcements made by the Chief Minister on this occasion.
•    Announcement to increase wheat support price in Madhya Pradesh.
•    Now, wheat will be procured in the state at Rs. 1500 per quintal with additional cost of Rs. one thousand crore. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to give such a high price to farmers for procurement of their wheat.
•    Hassle of electricity meter comes to end for farmers. Flat rate of Rs. 1200 per horsepower per year will be recovered from farmers. Facility of making payment twice a year will be given.
•    Mukhyamantri Kisan Videsh Addhyan Bhraman Yojna for farmers to study latest farming techniques in foreign countries.
•    Pending electricity-related cases will be settled through special Lok Adalats.
•    Core banking will be introduced in cooperative banks.
•    Groups of milk producing farmers will be constituted and benefited.
•    Groups of farmers will be constituted for horticulture production.
•    Farmers’ database will be prepared.
•    Prescribed target for scheme of 80 percent subsidy on sprinklers will be increased five-fold.
•    Through SMS dialogue will be held with farmers and information will be given to them about advanced methods of cultivation.
•    Incidents of drowning in rivers and nullahs will also be considered as natural calamity.
•    Custom hiring centres will be opened.
Passed resolutions
•    Following resolutions were passed at Kisan Mahapanchayat with consensus of farmers and demand was raised with the Union Government that:
•    Prices of seeds & fertilisers should be rolled back.
•    Wheat support prices should be declared as Rs. 1600 per quintal.
•    Support price should be announced for kodo-kutki as well.
•    Doda-chura should be purchased instead of burning.
•    12th Five-Year Plan should be announced as Water Year.
