Villagers Team up to Fight Forest Officials in Bandhavgarh

Apprehending restrictions on tourists in Bandhavgarh Park following death of a tigress, natives who depend on the reserve for their living have teamed up together to combat officials, who they charged were hiding the truth behind the feline’s death, said media reports.

They are insisting that an investigation into the incident should be carried out by the CBI, reports said.

Officials have attributed death of tigress to a hit by a vehicle which was carrying tourists.

Nevertheless, villagers alleged that it was the vehicle of the Forest Reserve that had hit the eight-year-old tigress while she was trying to cross the road and reach her three cubs on May 19.

To take on the officials, almost 400 villagers including guides and drivers of the vehicles which are being used for tourists visiting the national park have joined hands and formed a ‘Jansabha’ to expose the negligent officials.
