Vehicles entering BRTS lane should be fined

Bhopal: Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur has said that for safe traffic in BRTS corridor, vehicles entering it illegally should be punished and fined. He said that Bhopal’s 24 kilometer long BRTS is the longest in the country. He directed the Police o increase security in the BRTS. Shri Gaur was addressing a meeting of officers here today attended among others by DGP Shri Nandan Dube, Commissioner Urban Administration Shri Sanjay Shukla, Bhopal Division Commissioner Shri C.B Singh and DIG Bhopal Shri Shriniwas Verma.
Minister Shri Gaur said that BRTS corridor has given a unique identity to Bhopal city. All concerning agencies need to coordinate in running it. He informed that 75 buses including 20 AC ones will be plied in the corridor. Besides, 225 buses will be plied in entire city. He said that one lakh commuters will travel through buses of City Transport Service. Flow of traffic needs to be specially monitored keeping this in view.
Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur said that BRTS corridor is 30 meters wide having a dedicated bus lane, FMV lane for fast speed vehicles and HMV lane for pedestrians. As many as 82 bus stops have been constructed in the corridor.
DGP Shri Nandan Dube directed police officers to coordinate with municipal corporation officers to ensure strict arrangements in BRTS corridor. He stressed the need for launching a campaign to apprise people about the corridor. Participation of youths should be ensured in this.
Bhopal division Commissioner Shri C.B. Singh informed that Regional Transport Officer, Bhopal has been directed to ensure action against vehicles entering the corridor illegally. Disciplinary action will be taken against government drivers and licences of private vehicles will be seized. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Vishesh Garhpale informed that intelligent transport system has been fitted in all BCLL buses and vehicle tracking system in low-floor buses. This will help monitor all movements of buses on real time basis at BCLL control and command centre.
There should be prescribed place for condemned vehicles
Urban Administration Minister Shri Babulal Gaur also directed to park condemned vehicles lying on premises of police stations and other place at a single prescribed place. Collector Shri Nishant Warwade informed that such a place will be earmarked within a week after consulting police officers. Besides, action will also be taken to remove condemned vehicles parked at various spots in the city.
