Using black money to win elections is BJP’s culture: Baghel

Commenting on a recent sting operation that claimed to have revealed that a BJP MP used black money in 2014 general elections, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel alleged it depicted the saffron party’s culture.

In the sting operation, BJP’s member of parliament from Bilaspur Lakhan Lal Sahu purportedly admitted having used Rs 15 crore ‘black money’ in the previous general elections.

“It is the culture of the BJP to utilise black money in elections… It (the sting operation) depicts their “chal, charitra and chehra,” Baghel told newspersons.

He said the sting operation exposed before the people hollowness of the BJP’s claim of being a party with a difference.

“Whether it was in the earlier case related to former Rajnandgaon MP Pradeep Gandhi or the recent case involving Sahu, the real face of the BJP has been exposed,” claimed the CM.

“People will give a befitting reply to them in the upcoming elections”, he further added. In the sting operation carried out by a national private channel, Sahu was caught on camera admitting using black money in the previous elections to win the Bilaspur seat. Earlier in 2005, another BJP MP from Rajnandgaon Pradeep Gandhi, who was close to former chief minister Raman Singh, was similarly trapped in a sting operation that led to his resignation from the parliament.
