Total Rs. 7 lakh assistance each for state’s pilgrims deceased in Uttarakhand

Bhopal: Apart from Rs. 2 lakh from Madhya Pradesh government, families of state’s pilgrims deceased in Uttarakhand will also receive Rs. 2 lakh relief amount from Uttarakhand government and Rs. 3 lakh from the Union Government. Thus, total Rs. 7 lakh each will be paid to families of the deceased. During his Uttarakhand visit, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had directed to provide relief to the families whose missing parents have not yet returned from Uttarakhand. District collectors will prepare lists of such missing pilgrims as per guidelines of Revenue Department. For this, date of July 8, 2013 has been fixed. List of pilgrims remaining missing till this date will be prepared. Concerning collector will also apprise the State Government of this the same week. Earlier, Revenue Department had fixed time-limit of 60 days for such cases in its guidelines issued on June 17. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has reduced this period to 17 days.

Principal Secretary Revenue Shri R.K. Chaturvedi informed that Revenue Department has directed all district collectors to complete the process at the earliest and send its report to the department. District collector will verify missing pilgrims on the basis of travel ticket, taxi bill and other proofs while preparing revenue case tand hen undertake process of declaring a pilgrim dead or missing. Process of providing total relief amount to concerning families will be undertaken on the basis of lists prepared by collectors.
Single-window system: Families affected by Uttarakhand calamity will need not contact any other person or office except district collector. Principal Secretary Revenue informed that single-window system is being implemented to ensure that affected families get relief amount without any hassle.
