Team to bring back state’s people from quake-hit Nepal to leave today

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh ADG Shri Alok Pateria posted in New Delhi will lead a team to Kathmandu to bring back people of the state stranded in earthquake-affected Nepal today. During his New Delhi visit today, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave necessary directives in this regard to Shri Pateria before leaving for Bhopal. He said that information has been received that 25 people from the state including 20 from Shahdol district and 5 others are stranded there. Besides, there is possibility of finding more Madhya Pradesh people on reaching Nepal. All of them will be brought back home.

It is noteworthy that one of affected families of Madhya Pradesh has been brought from Kathmandu to Madhya Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi today. The family of Shri Manoj Verma reached New Delhi by air after spending several nights braving rains following earthquake. Shri Manoj Verma’s family used to reside in Sunrise Tower, Lalitpur, Dhobi Ghat in Kathmandu. Saturday is public holiday in Nepal. Shri Verma and his family were taking food when earthquake struck. Soon after, they left the building without taking meal and could have meal only today after reaching New Delhi. He is accompanied by wife and 8 years old son Anushk. For complete 2 days, they survived on some biscuits and water. They could not even sleep. Shri Verma said that earthquake has caused heavy devastation in Kathmandu. Most of the buildings have suffered damage. People are facing deep crisis of power, water and communications. Roads have also developed cracks at many places.
