Survivors of Gas Tragedy protested today in Bhopal

Gas Tragedy victims protested against the Central and Madhya Pradesh Government for what they said was “injustice” done to them.

Thousands of protestors walked from Yaadgare Shahjahani Park to Neelam Park. A group then submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Madhya Pradesh – Shri Rameshwar Thakur.

The survivors chanted slogans against Urban Administration & Development Minister Babulal Gaur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Abdul Jabbar leading the protest rally said, “Even after 26 years of the tragedy, around 6,600 gas victims are going to OPDs of different hospitals every day. Around 50,000 are getting checked and treated every year. Instead of helping them, the state government has conspired not to compensate the survivors”.

Mass amount of lethal gas leaked from the Bhopal plant of Union Carbide on the night of Dec 2-3, 1984, started a killing spree which is still on over the years.
