State’s milk production increase rate more than national average

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that efforts should be made to ensure that Madhya Pradesh emerges on top in milk market in the country. He directed to evolve a strategy to make Sanchi brand as one of the best in the country. The Chief Minister reviewed working of the Animal Husbandry Department here today. It was informed at the meeting that rate of increase in milk production in the state is more than national average. National average is 4.5 percent while state’s rate is 8.5 percent.
Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Shri Devraj Birdi, Commissioner Treasury and Account Shri Dr. Dharma Rao and Dairy Federation Managing Director Smt. Sudha Choudhary were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that good work has been done in Madhya Pradesh in milk production sector. This sector has immense potential. Animal husbandry’s role is important as an auxiliary livelihood source. He said that the department should not remain confined to distribution of more amount alone, but should further improve animal husbandry and milk production works. He said that it is also responsibility of the department to monitor utilisation of funds made available to various projects, units and beneficiaries. He directed to put up information regarding funds utilisation in the next quarterly meeting. Lauding the department for achieving more than target under various schemes, Shri Chouhan said that the districts putting up good performance should be encouraged.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also reviewed progress of cow sanctuary being developed at Susner in Shajapur district. He said that it will be a unique sanctuary. It should also be developed as a panchgavya-based project for experimental breeding centre of Veterinary Science University.
It was informed at the meeting that arrangements to house 10 thousand bovine animals will be made at Susner sanctuary spread over 984 acres of land. Milk production is increasing at a rapid pace in the state. It has registered 12 percent increased as compared to last year.
