State government committed to ensuring quality in construction works

Bhopal : Public Works Minister Sartaj Singh inaugurated Central Testing Lab to examine quality of construction works and 4 software connected with departmental processes here today. Singh said that inauguration of lab and software signifies that the state government is committed to ensuring quality in construction works and accomplishing departmental works speedily. He said that impact of other measures to ensure quality improvement including disciplinary action have started to yield encouraging results. The Minister said that construction of all major roads in the state will be completed by year 2018 in deference to Chief Minister’s wish.

A number of high-tech machines have been installed at the Central Testing Lab at PWD’s Area Hill headquarters to test quantity and quality of construction materials and construction process. There are arrangements to test quality of materials used at different levels. The state has 12 division level labs.

At the programme, functioning of 4 softwares for departmental processes was also launched. Works management system will contain information about all construction works going on in the department. Assets management system will help in obtaining information about all completed roads, buildings and bridges. Court case management and employees management systems were also launched.

Engineer-in-Chief Akhilesh Agrawal informed that all softwares have been developed at departmental level. These softwares will reduce time taken in decision making and the department will progress towards paperless work culture.
