State getting increased rice quota

Bhopal: The state is getting 8 lakh MT rice every month under public distribution system. In view of rising demand for rice by consumers, the state government had urged the Central government to increase allocation of rice. Earlier, the state used to receive 5.5 lakh MT rice.

Special efforts have been made in the state to cover eligible persons under public distribution system. During Food Security Festival, deprived families were linked with Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana. Under the scheme, one crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 842 families are being provided wheat and rice at the rate of
Re. one per kg.

Doorstep supply scheme in 210 development blocks

For ensuring that quota allotted under public distribution system is lifted by cent percent consumers, Food and Civil Supplies Department has started Doorstep supply scheme in 210 development blocks. A programme has been chalked out to implement this programme in all districts by the end of March 2015.

The department has also decided to allot food grains quota shop-wise to bring about transparency in allotment. For consumers’ convenience, information about it is being uploaded on Samagra portal.
