Government responsible for fulfilling socio-economic needs of poor: CM Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that it is the government’s responsibility to fulfil the economic and social needs of the poor. He said that Mukhya Mantri Jan-Kalyan Yojana is a support for the poor, an effective effort to remove poverty.

Chouhan called upon Team Madhya Pradesh to implement the scheme in the form of a public movement. The Chief Minister was reviewing implementation work of Mukhya Mantri Jan Kalyan Yojana at the Mantralaya today. Chief Secretary B.P. Singh and Director General of Police R.K. Shukla were also present on the occasion.

CM Chouhan said that two works are must to remove poverty. Firstly the income of the poor should be increased and secondly all essential facilities should be made available to them. Gradual efforts are being made to increase their income and facilities. Apart from new livelihood opportunities, foodgrain etc. are being made available to the poor among other efforts.

In this series, Mukhya Mantri Jan-Kalyan Yojana is a comprehensive initiative. It is an effort to provide social and economic support to the poor without any differences of caste and religion. The scheme will benefit every aspect of life of the poor.

Provision of maternity assistance, free treatment, assistance for coaching, anugrah and last rites is a symbol of human sensitivities. He said that there is an arrangement of self-certification under the scheme so that every needy person gets benefits of the scheme easily.

The CM was told at the meeting that the list of beneficiaries of the scheme will be read aloud from June 1 in gram sabhas. A five-member committee is being constituted for vigilance of the scheme. There will be representation of labourers also in the committee.

Beneficiaries registered between April 1 and coming May 31 will be given maternity assistance, compensation and patta benefits on June 13. Programmes will be organized for distribution of benefits on ward level in urban areas and on janpad panchayat level in rural areas.

Chief Minister’s message will be directly broadcast in these programmes in gram and janpad panchayats at 11 noon and at 7 pm in urban bodies. It was told at the meeting that patta distribution work has been done at a fast pace in state. Most pattas will be distributed on June 13. It was told that smart cards will also be given to beneficiaries registered under the scheme.
