Smart phones to be distributed to students in January

Bhopal: Students taking admission in the first semester of current session in government colleges will be given smart phones. This information was given at a departmental review meeting chaired by Higher and Technical Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta here today.

The meeting was informed that concerning company’s service centres will also be established at district level to rectify technical errors in the smart phones. Smart phones will be distributed to about one lakh 53 thousand students.

Shri Gupta said that proposals should be chalked out to open girls colleges at district headquarters where there is no girls college. He said that district headquarter-based girls colleges will be upgraded to Excellence Colleges. Shri Gupta directed to prepare a proposal to establish technical wing in Higher and Technical Education departments. He said that discussions should be held with industrialists to spend amount of CSR on development of colleges in their areas.

Renewable energy course in Neemuch ITI

Shri Gupta said that hostel should be built with new ITI. He said that one registered institute should be permitted to conduct on E.B.T.P. Since August 2014, as many as 28 new ITIs, 51 new courses have been started, 1460 seats have been increased and 10 short-term courses of renewable energy have been started in Neemuch ITI.

The Technical Education Minister said that all students should be linked with Aadhar Card. This will eliminate duplication in scholarships. He said that for assessment of traditional skill in construction sector, discussions should also be held with labourers standing to secure daily work at various crossing in cities. The pilot project for certification of 5 thousand traditional artisans will be started from January 15, 2015.

Principal Secretary Higher Education Shri K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Technical Education Shri Sanjay Singh, Director Skill Development Shri M. Sibi Chakravarti and other officers were present on the occasion.
