Shivpuri city acquires new look

Bhopal. Shivpuri is now assuming a new look. This is the observation of people who visit Shivpuri after a long time. This is true also since anti-encroachment drive has indeed given a new look to the city. First time, all sections of society are lauding ongoing anti-encroachment drive to make Shivpuri city beautiful and clean. Commerce, Industries & Employment, Sports & Youth Welfare and Religious Trusts & Endowments Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia had directed at meeting with public representatives and officers on May 20 to chalk out an action plan and remove encroachments from nullahs as per directives of High Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Large number of nullahs were constructed for flushing out water when Shivpuri city was founded. But, over the years people encroached on the nullahs and constructed houses on them. Due to this, city started facing problem of floods.

To beautify the city and rid it of floods, joint squads comprising police personnel, Municipal Corporation and Revenue Officers started anti encroachment drive after chalking out an action plan. On Court Road, vegetable and fruit market and permanent and temporary encroachments on the land of girl schools were removed. Around Durga Mutth also, encroachments on nullahs were removed. A multi-storey building on a nullah on Thandi Sadak was demolished. About 10 to 12 pucca illegal houses were also demolished on the same nullah. Besides, temporary encroachments like tin shades, rostrums etc. were also removed. Situation of road jams has ended in the areas from where encroachments have been removed. Traffic has become smooth for common people.

During anti-encroachment drive, 34 houses were demolished from Hanuman dam to Shankar Colony, 22 from Shankar Colony to Rajeshwari road, 52 behind MS Hospital from Nawab Saheb road to Maniyar bypass, 23 from private bus stand to Ashoka Battery, 33 from Kamal Ganj to Bank Colony and 10 houses were demolished from Hanuman Bridge to Vishnu Mandir road.
