Share of renewable energy to be 21 percent in state’s energy generation

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation has chalked out new incentive policies for tapping new and renewable energy sources to meet energy needs of the state. On completion of ongoing projects by March 2017, the installed capacity will go up to 5 thousand 247 MW. Following it, share of new and renewable energy in total energy generation in the state will increase from 4.09 percent to 21 percent.

World’s biggest 750 MW capacity ultra mega solar park is coming up at a rapid pace in Gurh tahasil of Rewa district. Climate-based projects over rivers, canals, dams and other water sources are also being encouraged to generate power. For this, the state government has also released incentive policy-2011.

Asia’s biggest 130 MW capacity solar energy plant has been established in Neemuch district. Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the state having established maximum solar energy capacity in the country by setting up 306 MW capacity in year 2013-14.

Energy generation through bio-mass including agriculture waste, useless wood twigs and pieces is also being encouraged in the state. New & Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has held detailed discussions with investors from India and abroad at Global Investors Summit, Indore to increase power generation through non-conventional energy sources in private sector. Effective action is being ensured for implementation of proposals received from various investors.
