Holiday for Laborers on Vishwakarma Day

Bhopal — The State Government has declared holiday on Vishwakarma Jayanti, September 17. Workers reporting on work voluntarily on this day will be eligible for double their daily wages.

Labourers in the state are entitled to three national holidays – Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) and Vishwakarma Jayanti (September 17) apart from five festival holidays which are decided by the employer with the consent of employees representatives.

Workers voluntarily performing duties on these days are entitled to either an alternative holiday or twice their wages.
