Security of citizens is topmost priority: CM

Bhopal. The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked the Superintendents of Police to ensure that citizens get justice without appeasement. He said that safety and security of citizens is the topmost priority.

Addressing the concluding session of two day Commissioner-Collector Conference here today, he said that policing in the state is satisfactory but it needs to be more alert and conscious in view of difference phases of crimes.

Shri Chouhan instructed the SPs to regularly visit and inspect the police stations in their respective districts to ensure visibility of the police. He asked them to ensure availability of the police and improve access of the people to police systems. This he said would help to improve intelligence system and people themselves would come forward to help the police. He said that a well defined policy for social media would be laid keeping in view its increasing misuse.  He asked them to intensify field visits.

The Chief Minister instructed the SPs to launch a campaign against criminal elements in view of eve teasing. He said that stern action should be taken against miscreants. Anti-social elements should be strictly controlled. Police-Public dialogue should be a priority so that people are encouraged to help the police and thus intelligence system also gets improved.  He said that clean policing can facilitate clean administration.  The society must feel a sense of security and presence of police so as to discourage the criminals. Madhya Pradesh can present a good example in the country.

Shri Chouhan said that terrorism has taken many dimensions. Terrorists are trying to penetrate deep into the society. The police needs to identify and counter the poisonous mentality.

The Chief Minister reviewed the schemes meant for welfare of the police.  Reviewing Dial 100 scheme, he said that it has helped make police reach out to people. He agreed to add motorcycle as support  to Dial 100.

Shri Chouhan said that conviction rate should increase. In view of some criminal groups committing crimes staying in urban areas, he said that house owners should be made aware to verify identities of tenants before renting housing units. An awareness campaign should be launched for this.

Reviewing the police welfare schemes, he said that police stations would be fully equipped with all basic facilities.  Land would be provided for housing units of police personnel. The police force would also be increased in view of increasing population. The families of the police personnel who die while performing their duties would be covered under police health security scheme.

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Minister for Animal Husbandry Shri Antar Singh Arya, Minister of State for General Administration Shri Lal Singh Arya, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri B.P. Singh, Director General of Police Shri R.K. Shukla and Inspectors Generals were  present in conference.
