Sarangi becomes first village to maintain vigil through CCTV cameras

Bhopal: Sarangi village is the live demonstration of communication boom in India. People of the village situated in Petlawad tahsil of Jhabua district have started using CCTV cameras to keep vigil against frequent incidents of theft. The villagers have resorted to this step after steep increase in theft incidents. This is perhaps the first village of the state to use this new technology for security.
As many as 15 theft incidents occurred during the last month in this village of 5000 strength. Perturbed by these incidents, the villagers collected Rs. five thousand through public participation and installed 90 CCTV cameras in the village and constructed a recording room also. This will deter thieves to a great extent, hope the villagers.
