Rural girls must aware about their health : Narottam Mishra

Bhopal. Rural adolescent girls must aware about their health and gynecological diseases. Awareness can be created in the urban areas through posters, advertisement etc. But in the rural areas, Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be a good medium for disseminating information about gynecological and procreational diseases. Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra said on Thursday. He was addressing the third National Adolescent Health workshop. The two-day workshop was organized jointly by Public Health & the Family Welfare Ministry, Union Human Resources Development Ministry and Woman & Child Development Ministry with the cooperation of National Rural Health Mission, Madhya Pradesh. Principal Secretary Public Health & Family Welfare Shri Praveer Krishna and Joint Secretary of Public Health & Family Welfare Ministry Shri Manoj Jhalani also addressed the workshop.

Dr. Mishra said that adolescent girls living in villages and remote areas can be saved from contacting several deadly and painful diseases by creating awareness towards health care among them. ‘State Government has launched several schemes and programs for women’s welfare including Beti Bachao Abhiyan. These schemes will be meaningful only when our daughters remain healthy’. He added.

It was informed at the workshop that about 70 percent girls in the state are anaemic. For them, Adolescent Anaemia Control Programme is being conducted in coordination with School Education and Woman & Child Development Departments. Under the programme, girls from 11 to 19 years of age are provided iron fluoric acid every week and anthelmintic pills Albendozole every sixth months at Anganwadis.

Madhya Pradesh Rural Health Mission Joint Director Dr. K.L. Sahu informed that health of students of class I to VIII is regularly examined under School Health Programme. Monthly Sanitation Scheme is being conducted in nine districts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Datia, Dewas, Sagar and Vidisha since last year.

Commissioner Public Health & Family Welfare Shri Manohar Agnani and Madhya Pradesh National Rural Health Mission Managing Director Shri Ravindra Pastor also addressed the workshop. About 100 representatives of Public Health, Education and Woman & Child Development departments of various states are taking part in the workshop.
