Rs. 50 lakh smack seized in Jabalpur

Bhopal: Excise and police personnel have intensified checking in view of polling to be held for Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on November 25. Strict watch is being maintained at border check posts. During checking Rs. 50 lakh smack was seized in Jabalpur. The Excise Department officers have seized 200 litre country made liquor and 90 quintal mahua. An accused has also been arrested during raid.

The excise staff have raided 535 different places in the state and recovered 4859 litre country made liquor. It has registered 360 cases and arrested 278 accused. Fines of about Rs. 69 thousand have been imposed in cases of illegal liquor. In the state, 90 litre foreign liquor has also been seized, 17 cases registered and 17 accused arrested. Rs. 3 thousand fine was also imposed in these cases.
Cases of paid news
State and district level media certification and monitoring committees (MCMCs) are maintaining constant watch over paid news in the state. Shivpuri returning officer has issued notice to candaites regarding paid news. District election officers have issued notices to 4 candidates in Indore and 6 candidates in Bichhiya Vidhan Sabha constituency in Mandla district for not showing election expenses.
